          Supported operating systems [top]

          NOTE!
Operating systems supported by WISARD are :

          • Windows (supports XP to 10)
          • Linux (tested from OpenSUSE 11 or above, Ubuntu 9 or above, CentOS 5.0 or above)
          • FreeBSD (supports FreeBSD 9)
          • Mac (supports from 10.6 Snow Leopard, 64-bit only)
          • Solaris (supports from 11, 64-bit only) (from version 1.1.0.8)

Executable binary file of WISARD for these operating systems are provided below.

          Requirements [top]

          Windows

Windows requires an installation of Visual Studio 2012 redistributable update 4.
          - English: Download (Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 Update 4)
          - Français (French): Télécharger (Redistribuable Visual C++ pour Visual Studio 2012 Update 4)
(Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 Update 4)
          - 正體中文 (Traditional Chinese): 下載 (適用於 Visual Studio 2012 Update 4 的 Visual C++ 可轉散發套件)

          NOTE!
Redistributable package is required because the Windows version of WISARD has compiled using Visual Studio update 4, to resolve the dependency.

          Linux (openSUSE, Ubuntu, CentOS...)

Linux requires a valid version of libraries. Please check below minimum requirement.
          - GNU C Library(libc): Check with below command. Requires equal or greater than 2.5

          wisard@localhost> ldd --version

          - C++ library(libstdc++): Refer this discussion. Requires equal or greater than 3.4.14

          NOTE!
If the Linux on the target computer requires less version notated on here, please let us know to support!

          Mac OS

Mac only requires its version equivalent or newer than 10.6 Snow Leopard. No additional requirement is needed.

          Solaris

Solaris only requires its version equivalent or newer than 11. No additional requirement is needed.

          32-bit or 64-bit? [top]

At this point, a migration from 32-bit to 64-bit is actively ongoing. However, 32-bit based operatiang system cannot execute the program made with 64-bit architecture, and 64-bit based operating system can execute the program made with 32-bit architecture but poor performance. Thus, it is important to check whether the system that WISARD to be installed is 32-bit or 64-bit.

          Checking 32-bit/64-bit Windows

For Windows, it is possible to the architecture of Windows from 'System' in 'Control Panel' or go to 'Control Panel > System and Maintenance > System'. It is possible to identify whether your Windows is 32-bit or 64-bit by seeing 'System type' entry in System panel.

          Checking 32-bit/64-bit Linux/FreeBSD/Mac

Linux,FreeBSD and Mac provides an intuitive way to identify the architecture of installed. Open the terminal, and type the below command.

Example 1 : An example of checking 32-bit/64-bit in Linux/FreeBSD/Mac
          wisard@localhost> uname -r
          x86_64
          wisard@localhost> _

The command uname -m will return the architecture of installed operating system. In case of 64-bit operating system, this command will give x86_64. Otherwise (32-bit operating system), this command will give x86.

Note for 32-bit operating system [top]

It is worth to note that running WISARD on 32-bit operating system, contains a natural-born limitation on its capacity of memory usage. When using 32-bit version of WISARD, it can use only up to 4 GiB of memory. Thus it can limiting the maximum retrievable size of dataset.
